Evan Williams’ Ten Rules for Web Startups

November 30th, 2005
Web Startup

Ten Rules for Web Startups Evan has a good list of rules for internet start ups. I like Number 3.

“#3: Be Casual
We’re moving into what I call the era of the “Casual Web” (and casual content creation). This is much bigger than the hobbyist web or the professional web. Why? Because people have lives. And now, people with lives also have broadband. If you want to hit the really big home runs, create services that fit in with—and, indeed, help—people’s everyday lives without requiring lots of commitment or identity change. Flickr enables personal publishing among millions of folks who would never consider themselves personal publishers—they’re just sharing pictures with friends and family, a casual activity. Casual games are huge. Skype enables casual conversations.”

Where is the Love? , Black Eyed Peas

November 30th, 2005

Where is the LOVE!? by Black Eyed Peas

Can’t imagine a really good Rap music that raps about love, culture, hunger etc. Cheerios to Black Eyed Peas!

“But if you only have love for your own race, Then you only leave space to discriminate and to discriminate only generates hate.

People killing people dying, Children hurtin you hear them crying . Can you practice what you preach
Would you turn the other cheek? Where is the love?

If love and peace so strong, why are there pieces of love that don’t belong. Nations dropping bombs, chemical gases filling lungs of little ones.
With ongoing suffering, As the youth die young. So ask yourself is the loving really strong?

So I can ask myself really what is going wrong, with this world that we living in. People keep on giving in ,Makin wrong decisions
Only visions of them livin and Not respecting each other, Deny thy brother

The wars’ going on but the reasons’ undercover, The truth is kept secret . Swept under the rug
If you never know truth , Then you never know love Where’s the love

Most of us only care about money makin. Selfishness got us followin the wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media, Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting their young minds faster than bacteria , Kids wanna act like what the see in the cinema
Whatever happened to the values of humanity, Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love, we’re spreading anomosity. Lack of understanding, leading us away from unity

That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feeling under
That’s the reason why sometimes I’m feeling down
It’s no wonder why sometimes I’m feeling under
I gotta keep my faith alive, until love is found

US$100 Laptop

November 21st, 2005

US$100 laptop sound like a dream comes true! Personally I think its a great solution. Computer penetration is definately too low now. We need to get everyone connected somehow into Information Superhighway. US$100 laptop is great for developing countries… This is a great way to speed up the learning with use of technology to all kids and even adult. Great Work! I will definately get one for myself.

As for United Nation:-
I strongly suggest that United Nation first feed the poor children with food rather than a US$100 laptop. Global poverty is a big issue! United Nation tag-line should be “One hamburger per child”.

Cheers!

High and Dry by Jamie Cullum

This 26 year old has brought jazz music to the masses. His Debut Album “Twenty Something” sold over 2 million copies and received a Grammy nomination. His album “Catching Tales” offers more pop influenced jazz. He wrote the entire album (except a couple of jazz standards) in 4 months.

I just love Jamie’s music…. listening to his track “High and Dry” , writing my feelings…. Its not about the lyrics.. its about the music, the tune, Jamie’s voice.. GREAT WORK Jamie!

High & Dry

Respect! Not everything is all about how old you are, how many years of experience you have…. There are many things we can learn from young people. Their innocence, Their Pureness, Their unlimited Love…

When we were Babies, we don’t care for anything at all, we will just do whatever we want, wherever we are, without hesitations…. As we grow older, we were told not to do this, we can’t do that. Many times, we are afraid try new things, make a big leap, make a big step because our comfort zone. Afraid to take a new step, afraid of changes, afraid of losses.

Sometimes, we should try to make a first step out of our comfort zone. Try new things… world without limit, Spread our wings! Do great things! Why some people are so successful in life?

They DARE TO TAKE THE FIRST STEPS! You might see great things… Believe in yourself!

Cheers!

Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gymnopedie No.1

November 10th, 2005

Gymnopedie No.1 by Jean-Yves Thibaudet.

This is a very soft, slow piano piece by Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Simple is Beautiful , that’s a frequent motto of my good friend “T” . It is so comfortable listening to this great piano solo. One can feel what is going on around… so quiet, so clear, almost crystal like pureness…..

Gymnopedie No.1

You can purchase this CD here Classical Album

Sometimes when we put things in a slower pace… just like the piano solo. You will tend to see more things, hear more things… Everything will be clearer and simpler…

Everything that we see and listen is stamped into our brain…. the speed of the capture and stamping makes a big difference in result.

Do you remember what you see while going to work everyday? Oceans, flowers , people?
Do you sometimes notice that the Ocean you see is so much more beautiful today?

Try to look at things in a slower pace… you will see the difference.

Enjoy

Is what you listening now Music?

November 8th, 2005

Music, is part of our lives… Music can bring you happy, sad, lonely, confidence … the list goes on and on… It’s part of us. But what is real music?

Presently, the music that is being presented to the people is void of direction and emotion. Music today is being presented merely for the sake of a few; it is for those who seek stimulation and pleasure of the moment. Modern music is slowly deteriorating. It has lost the spirit of humanism and no longer has the power to inspire vitality and hope for the future. Music often determines the direction in which the youth of a nation will travel. How unfortunate that the level of modern music has led youth on the path to delinquency. When music plays such a role, its functions must be called evil. By President Ikeda of SGI

Music is the flower of culture, a language common to the entire world. It is a thing of beauty sought by everyone. True music is music that brings Culture and Love to everyone.

Power of Music and Art…

November 4th, 2005

Today… I will not write about any music… Recently I have the pleasure to meet some great people from Andrea Bocelli’s Forum. I am really happy to be able to find someone that shares the same interests in Music and Art.

Here i would like to share a post from by PIM from Portugal on what she thinks of Music and Art …

Original post can be found here

Elvin for me, personally, to have in this forum a person as yourself, enlights me…. Yes, all my life I have listen to classic and non-classic music.
But the non-classic music, is from my days, Elvis Presley, Beatles, Neil Diamond, Righeous Brothers ( Unchained Melody ) and so on. But also to jazz….

But classics, where always the strong point in my home… no matter in which composer, in which vocal ( male or female) nor matter in which century we had the background of his music.

A voice is undoubtly a caller, as Andrea Bocelli did said once, and no doubt that in the World of Arts… in which I was insered, and still today, not only music, but painting, sculpture and literature. Read the rest of this entry »

Canon in D Major , Pachelbel

November 3rd, 2005

Canon in D Major by PACHELBEL, Johann (1653-1706)

The accomplished Baroque organist Johann Pachelbel was south German born, but spent much of his career in middle Germany. He studied in Nuremburg, Altdorf, and Regensburg before becoming the organist of St. Stephen’s Cathedral Vienna, Austria, in 1674.

Canon in D Major

You can purchase this CD here Canon in D Major

His famous piece Canon (or Kanon). It is a baroque piece of music and has been interpreted by many, even found in modern pop songs. Canon is often recognized but sometimes not known by it’s name or composer. It is very popular at weddings, especially in the USA.

What does Canon mean then? Well not Cannon as many misinterpret it. Canon (or Kanon) is when a piece of music is imitated and repeated. First one instrument or vocal starts with a piece of the melody. Then after a number of tones, a second instrument or vocal starts to repeat, or imitate, the first one, playing the exact same tones, but with a time delay. More instruments or vocals may fill in depending on the composers wishes.

I have always wanted to be a musician , a pianist…. I have great love and passion for music… But my dream have swayed to become a technologist and a internet marketing guru now. But music is part of my life…. It’s with me all the time, I want everyone to learn to love the REAL MUSIC in life. Spread the Love of Culture , Music.

This is one of my favorite classical masterpiece by Johann Pachelbel, Canon in D Major. The Violins , the details of this piece, it brings me HOPE , CONFIDENCE in life… The music simply flows into me, letting me feel the greatest in life and achievement one can perform. ITS LIMITLESS OF WHAT ONE CAN DO!

Pachelbel’s Canon has a very special meaning for me personally. I listen to it when I’m happy and I listen to it when I feel sad. It touches my soul and sends shivers down my spine. And it still does, even though I’ve listened to it thousands of times. By Stefan, Sweden

Enjoy!

The Late Billy Holiday

November 1st, 2005

Good Morning Heartache, by the late Billy Holiday

Billie Holiday’s grandfather was one of 17 children of a black Virginia slave and a white Irish plantation owner. Her mother was only 13 when she was born. Between 1933 and 1944, she recorded over 200 “sides,” but she never received royalties for any of them.

Good Morning Heartache

Despite a lack of technical training, Holiday’s unique diction, inimitable phrasing and acute dramatic intensity made her the outstanding jazz singer of her day. Billie Holiday, a musical legend still popular today, died an untimely death at the age of 44.

Words can hardly express my feelings over her music. I strongly suggest all my friends and reader to purchase her CD collections! You can purchase her CD here Holiday Favorites

One can feel her soulful music! It’s full of love and passion… Her music is definitely The Flower of Culture. All her music is filled with love and passion, sang with pure love and passion, you can feel by just listening to her voice… It’s excellent!

Enjoy
